Light and Glow Effect Luminescent lines - Light and Glow Effect in Photoshop
In this Photoshop effect tutorial I cover the creation of several different light and glow effects.

In this Photoshop effect tutorial I cover the creation of several different light and glow effects.

Glow Effects

Let's create a new file (File>New) of 1920x1200 px and 72 dpi. Using the Paint Bucket Tool (G), fill the background with black color.

Glow Effects

Create a new layer and choose here a standard brush to represent many dots of different diameter.

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

On the same layer we'll choose Lock Transparent Pixel and a standard brush to paint the dots the same way demonstrated below:

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

Make a copy of the layer containing the colored dots. Switch off the layer's option (Lock Transparent Pixel). Place the copy's layer under the layer containing the colored dots. Apply for the copy's layer also the next options: Filter>Blur>Radial blur.

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

The layer's parameters:
Fill 78%

Glow Effects

Make a copy of the layer containing the Radial blur option. Putting it above the layer containing the colored dots, apply on the layer CTRL+SHIFT+U.

Glow Effects

The layer's parameters:
Fill 30%

Glow Effects

Next we need to represent several lines made of ornaments. Firstly let's draw their directions, using the Pen Tool (P) (Path regime).

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

Now we'll create six new layers (Create new layer) and select for them a standard brush of white color (Diameter 20, Hardness 100%). Using the Direct Selection Tool (A), mark out one line and then choose the Pen Tool (P) and finally have a right click on the marked layers (Stroke Path (Brush regime)). This operation needs to be done with each line.

Glow Effects

Now we need to mark out each layer containing the ornament line, press the option Lock Transparent Pixel and select a standard brush to paint the line with the same color the near situated dots have.

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

This way we'll paint all the lines, except one:

Glow Effects

The last one needs to be painted with #0C0C28.

Glow Effects

Next we'll make by two copies of each colored ornament line. Switch off the Lock Transparent Pixel option in the copies' layers. Place the copies' layers of the ornament lines under their originals. Apply also for the copies' layers the next option Filter>Blur>Gaussian blur (5 px for several lines and by 10 px for others). Try to get the same picture as below:

Glow Effects

Create a new layer and use here a standard brush of white color to represent white spots on the crossing edges of the ornament lines.

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

The white spots may be processed, applying the Smudge Tool (R), the same way demonstrated next picture:

Glow Effects

The layer's parameters:
Fill 95%
Blending mode-Lighten

Glow Effects

On the next new layer we'll chose a standard brush of green color (Opacity 15%) to paint the right part of the ornament lines.

Glow Effects

Glow Effects

The layer's parameters:
Blending mode-Linear Light

Glow Effects

Create a new layer again and use the same standard brush to paint the central part of the picture. The brush has the color #00FFFF (Opacity 10%)

Glow Effects

On the last stage we'll represent again a new layer, applying here the standard brush (mentioned above) and paint the left part of the ornament lines. The brush has the color #FF00FF.

The layer's parameters:
Blending mode-Hard Mix

Glow Effects

The final result!
